"Slavic folk spirits", 2025

ceramic, acrylic paint, wooden stands

The series of ceramic figurines represents Slavic mythical creatures and consists of four characters, each of whom embodies a unique personality and archetype. "Nochnitsa" is a mysterious shadow spirit in female form, that appears at night and controls dreams. "Borovichok" is a clever trickster, the guardian of the forest, and, in particular, the kingdom of mushrooms. "Sirin" is a formidable bird with a human head, heralding danger with its alarming singing. "Baba Yaga" is a sorceress, healer and herbalist, acting as a guide between the world of the living and the dead. The basis for creating three-dimensional figures were graphic drawings, an important feature of which was the use of duochrome ink. My task was to capture the ephemerality of graphic works and convey their plastic potential through ceramics. The figurines are placed on wooden pedestals, symbolically referring to the space of traditional huts.
